We are happy
to announce
the release
of Lovely
Laura’s much
anticipated
jazz album
Off The
Ground.
Released
31st August
2011
Most notable for her renowned live performances with huge brands such as Hed Kandi, Ministry of
Sound, Space-Ibiza, Pacha and Cocoon in Frankfurt, the British saxophonist / singer-songwriter Lovely
Laura is no novice to the stage, with already having enthralled thousands at arenas such as the O2, NEC
and the Amsterdam Heineken Music Hall. She has performed with and supported artists such as Take
That, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Stylistics, Candy Dulfer, whilst also being personally invited by Domenico
Dolce (Dolce & Gabbana), to tour in their exclusive boutiques around the world.
It is surprising then how Laura has found any time to write, record and produce her debut jazz album Off
The Ground, yet she has. Along with her co-writer Wayne Pollock who has written and directed for artists
such as Corinne Bailey Rae, Martha Reeves & Jackie Graham, Laura invites you to accompany her on
intimate lyrical rides, shared with saxy, soulful passion and intelligent, yet beautifully arranged music.
It is her first album release on the label NuJaz, owned by the multi-platinum, award-winning producer
Robin Millar CBE (Sade, Everything But The Girl, Fine Young Cannibals, Style Council).
With influences of Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Brubeck & Donny Hathaway,
this album is a melting pot of ingenious musicality, yet Laura still delivers us with her very original sound
and distinctive style.
Having already had two successful single releases from the album (Baker Street & I Look At A Girl), Laura
has also gained huge global radio support and amazing reviews, with Peter Young (Jazz FM) declaring
that when he first heard Baker Street he 'virtually melted on the spot!'
Described by the legendary saxophonist Gilad Atzmon as 'the beauty and the beat' and also by the late
Humphrey Lyttleton (BBC Radio 2) as 'a female saxophonist with distinction', Lovely Laura takes you
on a journey with her spine-tingling vocals and soulful, jazzy, sexy sax. This lady exudes pure talent and
exquisite musicality.
